clone12_2

Oracle Rapid Clone for EBS 12.2 installation on AIX 7.2

Description

Dependency: * aix 2.3.1 * chef_client: 13.9.1

Note: This cookbook is heavily dependent on: 'Cloning Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 with Rapid Clone (Doc ID 1383621.1)' Please read this document to understand the tasks completed by this cookbook.

Note: This cookbook relies on version 13.9.1 of AIX Chef Client. See the bootstrap command for how to specifiy the version of chef client.

clone12_2 COOKBOOK Limitations:

  • Does not support Oracle Database RAC option.
  • Does not support a multi-tier/lpar installation.
  • Has not been tested on any other operating systems other than AIX 7.2
  • Assumes both application and database on the same LPAR under user 'oracle'
  • Must have a working EBS 12.2 Source environment that you wish to clone.

NOTE: Oracle E-Business Suite requires valid licenses to install. It is expected that the user of this cookbook follows all licensing requirements of Oracle EBS.

Quickstart (EBS)

  • Have either an open Source Chef Server or a Hosted Chef account at the ready.
  • Create your Target machine with AIX 7.2 operating system.
  • Follow Oracle document ID 1383621.1. (Aug 1 2016)
  • It is assumed that all the operations from Section 1 to Section 3.2 have been completed on the SOURCE machine and then a compressed tar image is copied and available on the Target machine
  • Cookbook will create your staging directory on the Target AIX 7.2 LPAR

             ]
        }
      }
    }
 }
)

  • Use the bootstrap command, telling Chef to install itself with the client verson as see below.
  Ex: knife bootstrap <TargetNode> -x root -P <password> --bootstrap-version 13.9.1 \
        -N <TargetNode> -r 'role[cl50]' -y -V
      where <TARGETNODE> is the AIX 7.2 target LPAR.

* This Install will take plenty of time, so find a good book to read.
  (On my fastest machine, it took over 12 hours, on slower machines/disks, can be 20 hours)
