= DESCRIPTION: Chef Light-Weight Resource Provider for setting Amazon Web Services EC2 Tags. = REQUIREMENTS: Test on Chef 10.4 but should work on 10.0. Only requirements are API access to Amazon EC2 API with an API Access Key and API Secret Key. = USAGE: You can simply 'include_recipe "AmazonEC2Tag"' or copy the library, provider and resource into your cookbook. Included is a default.rb recipe which demonstrates usage of the resource/provider setting an EC2 Tag in a Chef recipe. Action(s): - create - Create the Tag key. Create is also used to overwrite the currently set value for the key. Attribute Parameter(s): - aws_access_key - API Access Key used for AWS EC2 authentication. - aws_secret_access_key - API Secret Key used for AWS EC2 authentication. - value - The value of the key you wish to set. Here is where you would put your string for the tag. - instance_id - The AWS EC2 instance ID that you wish to set the tag. == Example AmazonEC2_ec2tag "Name" do aws_access_key aws_properties["amazon-ec2"]["access_key"] aws_secret_access_key aws_properties["amazon-ec2"]["private_key"] value "Production Adobe ADEP Web Experience Manager" instance_id node["ec2"]["instance_id"] # This will set the tag to the current node instance ID. action :create end = Known Issues There is an outstanding issue with Ruby gem installations and Chef cookbooks that contain a hyphen in name. I.e. You cannot name this cookbook Amazon-EC2 or it will fail to properly work.
